The oikos Spring Meeting 2008 deals with sustainable production and consumption – through in-depth case studies on bio-plastics (BASF) and water scarcity (Henkel).
How can a company like BASF use bio-plastics as a raw material for sustainable products? And what is the influence of a global water scarcity on a consumer goods company like Henkel? The 90 international student participants of the oikos Spring Meeting explore these questions together with representatives from the two companies: Dr. Jens Hamprecht (BASF) and Uwe Bergmann (Henkel).
The one-day case study sessions are part of the oikos Spring Meeting 2008 that takes place in Cologne from April, 24 to 27. The meeting focuses on the topic of "Manufacturing the Future - Prospects for Sustainable Production and Consumption".
The meeting includes a public lecture by Christa Liedtke, Wuppertal Institute, on Thursday evening, and a panel discussion on 'perspectives on sustainable business' on Friday evening. These are open for all students of the University of Cologne and other interested people.
Furthermore, the 90 oikos participants develop their marketing, project management, presentation and sustainability skills in dedicated oikos workshops, broaden and deepen their oikos network and decide on legal oikos matters during the Legislative Meeting.
